Get to Know Us

At Johnstown Storm, we believe that children are the very essence of the future. Who they are tomorrow is essentially the outcome of how they are raised and nurtured today. As a leading Youth Organization in the Johnstown area, we go above and beyond to provide our athletes an empowering environment where they can fully embrace their identity and gain all the skills they need to be leaders tomorrow.

Our staff include teachers, nurses, and social workers. All staff hold Pennsylvania and Federal clearances as well as National safety accreditation. Additionally, all staff are certified in ChildSafe. We understand the importance of providing a safe learning atmosphere for the athletes.

Our goals are to teach Cheer and Dance fundamentals as well as shape the way they live their lives.  We teach our athletes the fundamentals of social responsibility, healthy living, sportsmanship, and self worth.

Dancers will be asked to perform their tryout dance from the instructional video, any tumbling skills listed on the audition forms, as well as any tricks. 2020-2021 CHEER TEAM PLACEMENTS

Due to COVID 19, we are required to hold our placements differently this year. With following the PA State and CDC guidelines, our 2020-2021 Placements will be done in two parts. BOTH parts are REQUIRED in order to be placed on a team.

Part 1 - Placement Tumbling - each perspective athlete must attend ONE Placement Tumbling session. The dates and times can be selected by clicking on the button below. These sessions are limited to 6 athletes at a time, and are NO CONTACT sessions. This means while the coaching staff will be present, no physical contact with the athletes will be made. This is an opportunity for the athletes to tumble on a spring floor/tumble track and work on skills they already have. All paperwork and additional details will be sent via email after an athlete signs up for a time slot.

Athletes are to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled time. They will meet a nurse in the lobby, have their temperature taken, return required forms, and submit payment. A mask must be worn by the athlete until they are in the gym. Please note, no parents or spectators will be permitted inside. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please kindly wait for your athlete in the parking lot. Thank you.

Part 2 - After the coaching staff evaluates the athletes tumbling level, they will be placed into placement skill groups. These groups will be evaluated June 7, 8, or 10th, depending upon their level. Their time/date will be sent with additional information to your registered email.Again, this will be small groups, and each athlete will arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time. A nurse will be taking their temperature in the lobby, and masks are to be worn until they are in the gym.

After these are completed, we will be making Team Announcements via Facebook and our website. Practices will begin mid June. By then, we hope that Cambria county is in the green phase, and we are able to move forward within State/CDC guidelines. In the event that we are not, we will continue our sessions in small groups until we are in the green phase.

Thank you for your understanding, as this is an unprecedented time for the world of cheer and dance! We look forward to getting back into the gym in the safest way. Our athletes are always our number one concern!
